A month ago I signed up for an MLB trial to regain my lost love for baseball. It’s a slow sport, great for background noise while working or sleeping – a nostalgic fetish: the crowd humming, the crack of a bat, the umpire yelling strike, “Get cha hot dog and beer!” yells the vendor.

Today I opened the app to watch a game and realized I was logged out of my account. Didn’t think much about it, just like when I set my password – I don’t remember it, so I moved onto other things.

A couple hours later, my card gets charged for the monthly deal with a notification that my trial has ended. I thought to myself, what a coincidence… I was logged out of my account shortly before this charge. That would make it pretty hard to cancel my trial if I happened to be magically logged out.

This is something I’ve noticed with multiple trials from other services. It wasn’t until today it became clearer this has been a pattern. Call me crazy.
